Streisand and James Brolin attended a fundraiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton which raised $2.6 million. 700 guests arrived at the home of billionaire Ron Burkle.

12 April 2007

Barbra hosted a seated dinner for 120 guests that honored her friend Nancy Pelosi, and benefited the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The fundraiser earned $1.56 million in support of the DCCC's efforts to increase the party’s majority in the House of Representatives in the 2008 elections.

An acetate of Barbra Streisand's first known recording demo, one of only ten that were manufactured in the early '60s, was auctioned. The demo disc featured the songs “Come to The Supermarket (In Old Peking)” and “I Stayed Too Long at the Fair.” The auction site says the demo did not sell.

Streisand Live in Concert 2006 was released on CD by Columbia Records. The store Barnes & Noble carried the CD with a bonus track, "When the Sun Comes Out."  And Target stores included “Stoney End” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade” as bonus tracks.

The Giving Back Fund compiled a list of the celebrities who made the largest personal public donations to charity in 2006. Barbra Streisand was #4, behind Oprah, Geoffrey Beene, and Jack and Marie Lord. In 2006, Barbra donated $11,750,000 through her Streisand Foundation, which contributes funds to numerous civil liberties, environmental, and civil rights organizations “dedicated to democratic values.”
